The thrill of it all

Okay. Wow! PHEW!!!
That was really exciting! I'd been warned of the addictive nature of blogging and now I see why. Honestly, tho embarrassingly, I kept logging in hoping someone else had commented. Thanks be to all of you for making my first time such a memorable experience!

The most exciting thing that happened this week to blog about was blogging. I really don't want that to be the purpose so I'll quit that now.

I did, however, go to the Rexburg Temple open house this weekend. It was really beautiful, but not so spiritual. It's hard for anyone to have a spiritual experience when someones kid is running around throwing a fit. This mom was carrying her little girl until she started kicking and saying she wanted to walk up the stairs. So she let her walk up the stairs and everyone got stuck behind her in the long, hot stairwell. When she got to the top she decided she wanted to run, so she ran away up through the crowd of legs and got way up to where her mom couldn't even see her. When the mom finally catches up to her she decides she better just hold her, so the little girl screamed until the tour ended with cookies and lemonade. Why can't parents just control their kids? You tell me. Really. I'd like to know because I'm the mom who couldn't control her kid. To make matters worse, Karlee happened to be wearing a Christmas T-shirt Ya-Ya gave her that says "Santa's got nothing on Grandma." So she REALLY looked like a spoiled, out-of-control brat. You must know the key word here is 'looked.' Because Karlee is an angel. And I only 'looked' like an exasperated parent. I really had it all under control. Moral of the story? Get a babysitter and go to the temple.

Whoa, what a mix of emotions i just experienced. Like, hey lady watch your kid, then oh... um... it was your kid? Then it happens to all of us.
Just wait until you have TWO blogs. Then the insanity begins. Especially when you have Brock making slim shady references in the comment section.

Cute kids! Hope all is well.

where was Brock in all of this? Sounds bad, but maybe it was one of those "no one really noticed or thought it was as bad except you because it was your child".... if only finding babysitters was that easy huh?

Linds, I didn't understand your slim shady citation so I asked if the real slim shady would please stand up and Brock stepped forward and showed me his comment--laughing all the way. He still wants you to tell him where he was when he wrote that...

Brooke HART?!! I've been wondering about you!!

During the temple episode, Brock was out of town. (Where was he Lindsey?) The scene was quiet and serene. Enter Karlee. Big contrast in decibels. There's no chance no one really noticed. Maybe we could plan a temple trip together, Amy, and find one babysitter...

Ok Tyra, that was hilarious. I wasn't sure how I felt about your reactions to some poor mom who was just trying to make a bad situation better, and in turn made it worse. I was so relieved to find that it was really you and that you were joking! Now I can keep reading your blog.

They have these things called kid leashes...

My kid will never ever ever need one. Just so you know.

Also, I think you (and kids, if you'd like to bring them) should tag along the next time Brock comes out here for work. Pleeeeeeeeease? I think you may need a Zwahlen's or Rita's fix. I'm just looking out for you, you know.
