It's always something

It's human nature, I suppose, that makes us think that we will be happy when __________ . (You fill in the blank-- ie. it's spring, you buy a new dress, lose some weight, yada yada.) Now, I don't agree with that way of thinking. I think, as Abe (Honest Abe, that is) said, "Most folks are about as happy as they make their minds up to be." But...can I just say that I will be SO happy when Brock is done with this stupid test!!!
I honestly can't take it anymore!!!!

Brock's taking the CFP (Certified Financial Planner) exam at the end of this month. So, for the past 3 months, after putting in his 8+ at the office, he studies 3-5 hours more. Then on weekends, he studies ALL day. He is really busting it and I'm sure he can't wait for it to be over. But I'm sure I'm even more eager for it to end. I try to be tough during the week, but especially when Saturday rolls around and I still get no change in scenery, I about go nuts.

What's sad is that only the top 30% will pass the test, so statistically speaking, there's a good chance we'll be doing this all over in the fall when they offer it again. It's a really big deal if--I mean when-- he does pass it. So, I'm trying to be a soldier here and think of the greater good.

Today stunk. No real reason. I think I just reached my breaking point. Brock's in Boise and the kids and I were inside all day looking out at the yucky weather. Anyway, I spent the day looking forward to bedtime, which is a pretty unfortunate way to spend your life. The highlight of my day was listening to the satellite repair man make fart noises and blame it on Karlee's penguin.

I guess although I don't have a husband--for yet another 2 1/2 weeks--at least I'm in good company, right?
Aren't my kids cute?

Why, yes, they are!

Hey Ty... I know the feeling. My husband studied forever to take the CPA. (Certified Public Accountant) It sucks being a single mom! Tell Brock good luck and I am so glad to hear that I am not the only mom out there who counts down the hours until bedtime! Even when I start counting at 10am... let's get together one of these days!

You're preachin to the choir...Welcome to what my life has been for the past three years and will continue to be for I don't know how long. He has decided to apply for Perio School! I think I am in for it. And yes, I agree, what an unfortunate way to look at life. But I am right there with you, looking forward to bedtime. I don't even look forward to Saturdays anymore...

Your little ones are so cute! That stinks that Brock has to study all the time. I remember when Nate was studying for the bar and I was so bored, but I didn't have kids yet luckily!

Hey Tyra! I miss the kids! They are so cute! I'm sure they miss me as well. Sorry that you have been a single mom. Good luck Brock!

That is such a cute picture of those two and yes, they are cute. Keep going, at least you know you won't be a single mom forever right?

I've compiled a list of things you can do to help you get through these last few weeks:

1. First, you have to think of all your Colonist friends/friends who are still living the student life

2. Remember that the root of the word "student" is "study" and we're right there with you

3. Go throw a load of dishes into YOUR VERY OWN DISHWASHER (unloading might also cheer you up)

4. Open your GARAGE DOOR and drive your car in and out until the novelty wears off

5. Let Karlee or Kade steer

6. Lie down on your nice clean, fresh carpet and take a nap--without fear of a house centipede crawling over you

7. Blast your music, stomp on the floor, and make as much noise as you want because you have no downstairs neighbor

8. Hop online and buy tickets to COME VISIT!!!

hope that helps :)

Yes, all you dental student friends. I do think of you and how your husbands still have to study all the time. But, as nice as having a house is, it can't replace my friends! It might sound crazy, but sometimes I'd actually like to live in my old colony hole and at least be with my friends for a little while longer. I guess I just don't know how to handle myself yet when I'm bored now that you all aren't right out my door. My creative side got out of practice when I had it so easy. Enjoy it while you've got it!

I can relate here too. There is nothing worse than being cooped up in the house with no adults to talk to. You'll have to celebrate when the test is over and yes, your kids are very cute!

I know what you mean, sometimes it would be nice just to have an adult to talk to or be able to go out side for a walk. Winter is lasting to long. Hang in there. hopefully it will get better.

If Brock is studying that much, he will most likely be one of the 30%. I could never study like that though. My brother Steven studied like Brock for the CPA, I was amazed. Good luck Brock!

As your your kids, they are absolutely adorable. And I love that picture. Does he really have that red of hair? Well anyways, good luck Tyra. You could always come visit me. I'd love to have you come over. I've been at my Mom's for a week, but will be home on Wednesday and will welcome friends, and normal life to begin happening.

Good luck to Brock. I bet he will pass no problem.... I can say I was a much happier person once Chuck passed his boards!
